This is a 9.7" color E Ink (Triton) e-reader that features a Wacon touchscreen, Wi-Fi and a microSD slot. It's running on a 800Mhz processor and weights about 550 grams. Engadget reviews the Kindle Touch and the Kindle FireEngadget posted two reviews - of the Kindle Touch and the Kindle Fire. The Touch is deemed as a good e-reader, but they say the touch functionality isn't so good as to make them want to replace the older Kindle keyboard or Nook reader - "The Kindle Touch is as good as any touch reader out there, but there's nothing particularly exceptional about it...the Kindle Touch isn't the steal it appears to be on paper". The Fire gets a more favorable review. While the Fire can't compete with other tablets as it's slow, the interface is sluggish and the functionality is restricted, but "The Kindle Fire is quite an achievement at $200. It's a perfectly usable tablet that feels good in the hand and has a respectably good looking display up front". So at this price point, the Fire is a great value and has a great integration of content acquisition into a mobile device.

Amazon launch new Kindles: Touch, budget Kindle and the Fire Tablet/E-readerAmazon announced some pretty exciting (but not surprising) new devices for us. Firstly they introduced the new Kindle Touch e-readers that feature 6" Pearl E Ink displays and an infra-red touch sensor. The Kindle Touch will launch on November 21st, but you can order it today. The Wi-Fi version costs $99 with screensaver ads and $139 without ads. The 3G version costs $149 (ads) or $189 (ads-free). The second e-reader is the non-touch Kindle 2011 - which is a streamlined version of the older Kindle 3 - with only 5 physical buttons (beside the next/prev ones, anyway). The Wi-Fi Kindle 2011 is shipping now: $79 for the ad-supported version and $109 for the non-ads variant.
TechCrunch: We've seen Amazon's 7" LCD tabletTechCrunch says they've seen a prototype Amazon Tablet (Design Verification Testing version). According to the blog, the tablet has a 7" capacitive touch screen, Wi-Fi and a special Amazon version of Android that has no Google applications. It will cost $250 when it launches towards the end of November. Amazon plans a 10" version in 2012, if the 7" one proves successful. Interestingly, TechCrunch reports that the Tablet will simply be called a Kindle - and will co exist with Amazon's E Ink readers. Finally, the blog says that Amazon are working on a "multi-touch screen/e-ink hybrid tablet device" but it's "nowhere near completion."
