Pixel QiEngadget reviews the Notion Ink AdamEngadget reviews the Notion Ink Adam - and are quite disappointed with the buggy software and delicate hardware. The tablet has impressive features - but it doesn't deliver... The Adam's display disappoints. Matte is achieved only with a screen protector, and the viewing angles are terrible (although it uses Pixel Qi's wider-viewing-angle display). The colors are a bit washed out, too. The reflective mode works though - and it saves battery and makes it quite viewable outdoors. The battery life is not so good either - less then Apple's iPad (or iPad2) - even with the reflective mode on all the time.
The Notion Ink Adam to cost $399 to $498, depends on optionsNotion Ink has announced pricing for the Adam tablet/e-reader. It'll cost $498 in the full-version (Wi-Fi, 3G, GPS, Pixel-Qi). You can also get it for $399 without the 3G and with a normal LCD. The Adam is delayed again. They will submit it for FCC approval in November, which means that the actual release depends on the FCC...

A short interview with Pixel Qi's CEOE-Ink-Info has posted a short interview with Pixel-Qi's CEO, Mary Lou Jepsen. She explains the technology, and also tells us that they have signed up more customers. It'll be interesting to see the new devices that use this great technology!
More details on the upcoming Notion-Ink AdamRemember the Pixel-Qi packing Notion Ink Adam Android tablet/e-reader? The company has finally released some new information (and photos). Beside the 10" 1024x600 Pixel-Qi display, the Adam will also have a swiveling 3mp camera, 3 USB ports, HDMI output, Wi-Fi, 3G and bluetooth. Based on a Tegra-2 (with a dual-core ARM COrext A9 processor), Notion Ink claim 16 hours of battery life. The Adam will also include an ambient light sensor, a proximity sensor and an accelerometer. We still do not know the price or release date of this interesting device. But we noticed something funny: Back in December, the battery life was quoted as 48-hours. A couple of weeks ago Slashgear said it'll be 20-30 hours. Now we hear 16. I hope that this is the final estimate...
Notion Ink to hold a $1 million application competition for the AdamNotion Ink has sent some new renders of their Adam E-Reader / tablet, and released some new information. They claim to have around 20-30 hours of battery life, and capable of 1080p HD video. It has a Pixel-Qi display that can be used to extend battery life even further and act like an e-reader. Notion Ink are actually considering two versions of the Adam, we're not sure what the difference will be (beside one being 12.9mm thick and the other 11.6mm). Notion Ink are planning content partnership and the Adam will have digital magazines, eBooks and comics from 'significant publishers'. They are also planning an Apps Competition to encourage developers to write special software for the Adam. It will have over $1 million in prizes!
