Pandigital starts to ship the Novel e-reader, but recalls them because of multiple problems

Update: The Novel is not really "recalled" - this is just a software issue. Kohl stores offered a refund. See the comment below, and Slashgear's updated post.

Pandigital has started to ship the Novel (an Android based 7" LCD e-reader), but has decided to recall them because of multiple problems. Owners can send them back for a full refund. Among the problems reported were patchy touchscreen responsiveness, sluggish browsing and WiFi that was reluctant to connect. It is a "software recall" - Pandigital will update the software and then put the Novel back on the shelves.

Novel has not been recalled

Slashgear's article has some errors in it, the Novel was not recalled but rather pulled from the shelves at Kohl's for a firmware update.

Slashgear had contacted Kohl's (not Pandigital) who said that the device could be returned for a refund, as is their policy.
