Borders starts taking pre-ordesr for the Kobo, will open an eBook store next month

Borders is rolling out their digital initiative. They are taking pre-orders for the Kobo, they'll open an e-book (and apps) store next month (powered by Kobo), and they'll launch special digital shops called Area-e in August to sell the e-readers (not just the Kobo) and more content.

The Kobo has a 6" E Ink display, costs $149, has no 3G or Wi-Fi. It'll start shipping June 17.
