Barnes & Noble announces PubIt! - a digital publishing & distribution platform

Barnes & Noble is announcing PubIt! - an "easy and lucrative" way for independent publishers and self-publishing writers to distribute their works digitally through Barnes & Noble.com and the Barnes & Noble eBookstore. They will announce the royalty model and compensation process in the coming weeks. Content owners' intellectual property will be "well-protected" with Barnes & Noble's digital rights management technology.

The PubIt! books will use the ePub format - so it'll be supported by lot's of e-readers, including B&N's Nook of course, which is selling for 259$.
